James M. Mitchell, M.D.
Dr. Mitchell has been practicing Ophthalmology in the Twin Cities since 1981. He graduated with honors from Harvard College, where he was awarded a John Harvard Scholarship. His medical school, internship, and residency training were completed at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Following residency training, he was invited to become a Fellow in Neuro-ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. There he served on the faculty as an instructor before joining Ophthalmology PA in 1981. He received his Board Certification in 1980 from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Mitchell has participated in numerous missions to third world countries where he treated the medical needs of the people and performed ophthalmic surgery.
Dr. Mitchell has served on educational committees for both of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a recipient of the Academy's Honor Award.
